Visit to the Casa Oculta Construction Site

The visit to the Casa Oculta construction site made it possible to follow the progress of the building works and confirm the careful integration of the house within the natural topography of the site.

Located on a steeply sloping plot in Quinta da Coutada, the house develops discreetly and remains almost imperceptible from street level, reinforcing the architectural concept of integration and continuity with the surrounding landscape.

During the visit, it was possible to observe the significant progress of the construction works, particularly regarding the interior plastering, spatial partitioning, and preparation of the technical infrastructures. The interior spaces already begin to reveal the functional organization of the house, characterized by linear circulation paths and by the constant relationship between light, materiality, and the exterior setting. Particular emphasis is also given to the execution of the flat roof and the large glazed openings, fundamental elements in connecting the living spaces with the natural surroundings.

Externally, it is clear how the architecture follows the slope of the terrain, developing across different levels and taking advantage of its implantation without imposing a dominant presence on the landscape. The entrance to the house, accessed through the landscaped roof, reinforces the idea of a path integrated into the terrain and contributes to the perception of the house as a “hidden” element within the hillside.

The outdoor leisure area is also beginning to take shape, anticipating a strong relationship between the living spaces and the surrounding vegetation. The fusion between architecture and nature is expressed through the visual continuity of the horizontal concrete planes, the restrained volumetric expression of the building, and the openness of the spaces towards the exterior, creating an atmosphere of tranquility, privacy, and well-being.

Overall, the visit confirmed the coherence between the initially defined architectural concept and its execution on site, demonstrating a sensitive integration of the house within the landscape and a particular attention to the relationship between built space, topography, and nature.
