Villa Turcifal
Aiming to respect and maintain the image of the Turcifal urbanization, in the district of Torres Vedras, guiding and regulatory principles were defined for the single-family house project, based on the morphology and typology of the area where it is located, as well as the dominant volumes, heights, and alignments described in the local regulations. It is a two-story and semi-basement volume, with a combination of pitched and flat roofs, adopting an architectural language that fits the surroundings and reinforces the project’s concept, thus ensuring its easy maintenance and durability.
The project of the house with 6 rooms was inspired by the architectural language of the surrounding four-pitch roof houses, featuring a volume with white surfaces and some stone accents, in addition to large window openings that allow the entry of natural light. The underlying idea of the project was to connect the interior with the exterior, linking the indoor spaces to the outdoor environment. The inclusion of large glazed surfaces allows for enjoyment of the exterior environment and natural light inside. By incorporating balconies that enable a smooth transition, it aims to provide spaces for relaxation and outdoor socializing.
The orientations were fundamental in the spatial organization. On the -1 floor, the garage is located to the south/west, the vertical accesses with the staircase shaft and a closed lift platform, the laundry room to the west, a supporting bathroom, and storage rooms. Moving through the corridor, one reaches a flight of stairs that descends to a leisure area consisting of a bar and games room, a gym with a bathroom, and a shower area, baths, and spa with an indoor pool and built-in jacuzzi. This division features natural lighting through the outdoor pool, with a glass measuring 1.60 m in length and 0.70 m in height. The gym and the indoor pool have a large glass surface facing east, providing relaxation and tranquility areas.
On the first floor, from the main entrance to the west, one is welcomed by a large entrance hall where all the vertical communications are found. From the main door, there is a visual axis towards the east, with large glazed surfaces and extensive landscape views. Access is gained to the social area consisting of a living room with a double ceiling height of 5.95 m. The kitchen is oriented to the north/west, connected to an outdoor space intended for the barbecue, facing north. The kitchen has direct access to the dining room through two sliding doors concealed within the walls. This space communicates directly with the living room through a sliding door and is oriented to the north/east, leading to a large patio covered with non-slip porcelain stoneware, with a grassy area where the leisure area with a pool and lounge space is located. On the same floor, to the south, there is a social bathroom and two complete suites.
On the second floor, a north-south distribution corridor provides access to the four suites. All suites include bathrooms and private balconies. Next to the staircase shaft is the office, with a direct view of the main exterior atrium and entrances to the interior of the lot to the west. Being in an open space, it allows for a view of the entire living room area and the eastern exterior, as well as a view of the attic area, which is open in the center and illuminated by a large skylight placed on the flat roof.
The house was designed to harmoniously integrate with its surroundings, with special care in the selection and combination of materials. The finishes planned for this project will be mostly natural, such as natural stones and glass, to bring the exterior nature inside and establish a connection between the two environments. The predominant color is white, complemented by the natural colors of Mourisca Ouro and Moleano stones.
The landscaping elements, such as the incorporation of several gardens and planters near the building, create a sense of integrity and harmony between the interior spaces and the exterior environment. In the courtyard area to the east, it is proposed to level the ground for the installation of porcelain stoneware paving and sown grass. Around the perimeter, planters with heights of 80 cm and 60 cm will be placed. The pool was designed not to clash with the surroundings, opting for an infinity pool on the east and north sides.
In the northern area, in addition to the barbecue, the terrain will be shaped and stairs covered with porcelain stoneware will be installed, allowing pedestrian access from the ground level to the -1 level. With this shaping, planters will be created to match the height of the stairs to the desired level. A terrain with shrub vegetation has been developed, linking the planters to the northern wall.
To the south, the terrain is shaped with the installation of two ramps covered with Rectipav drainage flooring by Amop. The first ramp provides access to the garage located inside the house, while the second ramp provides access to the unmodified terrain and will be exclusively for agricultural vehicles. Only two staircases will be installed, following the contours of the terrain to the east, located next to the northern and southern walls.
The exterior area to the east, except for the terrace space adjacent to the pool and the entrance to the west, will be treated with ground cover plants, maintaining all existing vegetation, including native species.
